Slava Mogutin: A Love Letter In Polaroids

Artist Slava Mogutin

Words Tom Czibolya

Carrying around a piece of you – people are choosing polaroid photography among others because of its symbolism: the manifestation of a memory, something that one can touch or carry it above one’s heart. Russian-american multimedia artist Slava Mogutin’s POLAROID RAGE is an excellent selection of a wide variety of portraits that he took in New York, Los Angeles and Berlin.

Slava’s work is greatly influenced by his bicultural dissident and refugee experience, examining the notions of displacement and identity, pride and shame, devotion and disaffection, love and hate. No wonder that Polaroid Rage is one fine example of his creative sparks.
