La Push: Together

Artist La Push

Words Javier Zamora-Kalazich

“The system is broken and in need of a reset” is one of the opening lines of the poem that gives life to “Together”, a short film directed by La Push, a directors duo composed by Marco Espirito Santo and Del Reginato. Conveying a strong and uplifting message in the voice of musician Carla Prata, the film is an invitation to work together towards transforming the present for the better, hand in hand, supporting one another.

As the director duo explains, and with the launch of their new creative studio, La Push, “Together” emerges following the Covid-19 pandemic, a time when the world had a chance for introspection and recalibration. In their words: “Since we wrote the poem and made the film, two major wars have broken out in the world, but the message still feels fresh, in a way, more relevant than ever. Amidst the chaos, any reminder of what is truly important is a good thing. As filmmakers, we aim to contribute to this dialogue, and we are grateful for the opportunity to do so”.

“Even though the world seems so far from a “more together future” right now, we are still optimistic and witness daily examples of the goodness in people’s hearts, demonstrating a desire to make the world better.”

Presenting an honest, raw, and face-to-face message, “Together” channels the sentiment of a generation confronted by the dynamic world and the changes of this new decade. Integrating the voices of remarkable progressive women such as Emily Dickinson, Maya Angelou, and Malala Yousafzai, the poem brings a hopeful, empathetic, and more loving touch to approach the current era. “Even though the world seems so far from a “more together future” right now, we are still optimistic and witness daily examples of the goodness in people’s hearts, demonstrating a desire to make the world better”, shared the filmmaking duo.
