With an empathetic and self-reflective sense of intimacy, Birk Thomassen tells stories about youth, love, sex, and self-awareness. His visual aesthetics, especially his depiction of gay men, derive from his upbringing in Denmark’s countryside. Feeling like an outsider as an adolescent guy made him learn to immerse himself in his own universe. We are grateful and happy that he’s giving us the possibility to peek into his universe.
