“Queers on Ecstasy”—but not in the way you might expect. With the Irrepressibles’ new video for Ecstasy Homosexuality, we set out to illuminate what truly connects us: the extraordinary achievements of queer people throughout history—a legacy that has not only shaped but also deepened our understanding of community, freedom, and liberation. This latest collaboration from Container Love is about more than just celebration; it’s about capturing and cherishing the energy, the passion, and the sparks that fuel our lives every day. We all have our own version of ecstasy, those moments of pure joy and connection—what’s yours?
This is the first installment of “Queers on Ecstasy,” part of our Beyond Lust Special, where we explore and showcase incredible talents within the queer community. Through this series, we share their individual interpretations of ecstasy, inviting you to experience the many facets of queer joy, creativity, and expression.
Who are you & what do you do in life?
I am who your mom listens to after your daddy went to bed. The crush you never wanted and the voice you won’t forget.
Which color would you personally mostly relate to ecstasy & why?
Ecstasy is white to me, where all the colours break. An opening to fantasies that linger in your head.
How do you define ecstasy and what is something that lets you experience ecstasy in your life?
When I no longer matter, cause everything’s correct. The heavy weight that’s haunting me been taken off my back. My feet are light, my love is bright, my muscles are relaxed. When I dance it’s ecstasy. In ecstasy I sweat.
How do you feel about the continuous search for excitement & ecstasy in the queer community and maybe especially in Berlin?
Love how this question finds me just two days after I’ve left. After 27 years I wondered what was next. Berlin will always be a home but for ecstasy’s effects, the gay community needs to include in their protests, intersectionality and say it with their chest, discrimination in any form will never let us rest.
Who are you & what do you do in life?
I’m Barry Brandon, better known as The Queer Indigo. I’m in the business of creating spaces where authenticity isn’t just welcomed—it’s celebrated. Think of me as your queer curator of unapologetic self-expression.
Which color would you personally mostly relate to ecstasy & why?
I’d say a deep, electric purple—it’s the color of bold self-expression and transformation. Purple embodies that sweet spot between intensity and calm, much like ecstasy itself. It’s vibrant, mysterious, and unapologetically queer—a color that feels like the rush of joy you get when you’re fully immersed in your truth, surrounded by love, and completely in your element.
How do you define ecstasy and what is something that lets you experience ecstasy in your life?
Ecstasy, for me, is that intoxicating moment when you’re fully in sync with yourself and everything around you. It’s the rush of being completely alive, unfiltered, and unapologetic. It’s not just about pleasure; it’s about deep, meaningful connection—whether it’s with yourself, with others, or with something bigger.
How do you feel about the continuous search for excitement & ecstasy in the queer community and maybe especially in Berlin?
The ongoing hunt for excitement and ecstasy in the queer community is like chasing a spark that never dims—it’s thrilling, vibrant, and all about freedom and connection. In Berlin, where the queer energy is fierce and free, this pursuit feels almost sacred. The city’s vibe is unmatched—it’s where boundaries blur, and the dance between excitement and ecstasy is both a celebration and a rebellion.
Who are you & what do you do in life?
My name is Ahmed, I was born and raised on the countryside in southern Germany as one of three and grew up as a biracial queer kid. My worksite passion has to do with hair and makeup, that’s why I’ve been a freelance hair and makeup artist since 2018. Since 2016 I’m HIV positive, so I decided in 2018 to publicly talk about HIV and the fight against stigma. Because of my own intersectionalities and my own experiences with racism and other forms of discrimination I call myself an activist against discrimination of all sorts, racism and for equality and the rights of every human.
What color would you most closely relate to ecstasy and why?
If I close my eyes & listen to “Ecstasy Homosexuality” I see yellow. Not because yellow is my favorite color, although it is, but because it’s vibrating and electrifying. Yellow stands for light and therefore for pulsating life.
How do you personally define and what is something that lets you experience ecstasy in your life?
Ecstasy in my life is happiness and joy, mixed with some adrenaline and / or serotonin, letting yourself go and just enjoying the moment. I experience it in different situations, for example when I’m outside in the summer and dancing with my friends to beautiful beats, the sun goes down little by little, the sound goes into your body and a warm and happy feeling spreads itself. But also when I’m finishing a great and maybe crazy project with a beautiful team.
Who are you & what do you do in life?
My name is Gialu (they/he) and I am on a journey of discovering and embracing myself through creating.
What color would you most closely relate to ecstasy and why?
Probably turquoise. Associating it with crystal clear water & the sky. Both so close and at the same time limitless. Impossible to explore all of it. Thinking of the infinity of them is scary, calming and mesmerizing at the same time.
How do you personally define and what is something that lets you experience ecstasy in your life?
I might define ecstasy as something that makes me feel self-confident, in order to expand my comfort zone and maybe even break out of it? Becoming myself. This can be through people, things, moments, art – inspiring me. The energy of Berlin and the people really helped me to become more myself. Some people tell me „oh Berlin changed you.“ To that I say: „ Berlin just lets me become more of who I have always been.“
