The Irrepressibles: Ecstasy Homosexuality
Artist The Irrepressibles
Words Tom Czibolya
What makes you feel is what makes you human – The Irrepressibles is the creative guise of Jamie McDermott, an absolute icon and one of Britain’s best-kept secrets whose support for the queer community has been unwavering. When Container Love was approached to collaborate with Jamie on their latest music video for their track, “Ecstasy Homosexuality”, it was like a dream coming true. Many say working with your idols can bring a sense of disillusionment, yet creating our latest film with our friends at Blink for the Irrepressibles was an experience we will always remember. With “Ecstasy Homosexuality”, we want to turn this summer into a celebration of queer liberation, where we bask in the warmth of our love, reclaiming our identities and desires with pride and joy, and discovering the deep connections and authentic intimacy that flourish beyond lust. This song is of course about male homosexual sex, and the joy and power that comes with it.
No two people are alike and what’s beyond lust is different for everyone. With the video for “Ecstasy Homosexuality” as well as a series of special interviews and editorials to follow, we want to focus on what silently connects us: the incredible achievements of queer people throughout history, a heritage that defines our conception of community, freedom, and liberation. This latest collaboration of Container Love is here to capture and cherish the excitement, the spark that keeps our worlds turning, a love that is beyond lust.
