Mirielle Alina Rohr: Love Making Sense
Artist Mirielle Alina Rohr
Words Tom Czibolya
“My dream as a child was to forever stay in a dreamy world” – intuition and skill go hand in hand for Berlin-born, but Paris-based photographer Mirielle Alina Rohr. Mirielle is working as a solo creator as well as part of Study From Life, the fashion photography duo of her and her partner, Alcibiade Cohen. “I can only say that our generation has grown up much more aware of mental health, and I believe that we are capable of changing at least a little of the toxic work atmosphere that is so often talked about in the fashion industry.”
Mirielle’s dreamy imagery is greatly influenced and fueled by her almost psychedelic, and long lasting dreams. The hypervisuality of these visions is what she often pursues in her photography, and of course, it all starts with a spark. “I think it’s the most inspiring process to follow subjects that speak to me without immediately understanding why. I believe the biggest mistake as a photographer or artist is to question your intuition too much at the beginning. The sense of it comes later in the process.” In a field of conceptual art, Mirielle likes to leave as little as possible up to interpretation. “I like making sense. I feel connected to my work when everything is somehow related to a certain message or idea. My intention and the actual work always go hand in hand when photographing or creating. When I look at the finished work, in the end I know exactly why I made the decisions I did. This is how I feel most in tune with myself.” Mirielle is part of Container Love’s latest special, Spring Is My Love, our ongoing series celebrating a new season with beautiful, new artists to discover!
