Tsele Nthane: Life In The Moment Before

Artist Tsele Nthane

Words Tom Czibolya

“To me, the most perfect place in the world is somewhere between the half-press and full-press of my shutter” – Cape Town photographer Tsele Nthane belongs to a new generation of South African photographers, made sought after by his evocative portrayal of human emotions through imagery that blends fashion and street photography. Documenting his colorful community, he’s a member of Bubblegum Club, an organization of South African artists co-founded by another Container Love crush of ours, photographer Jamal Nxedlana.

“To me, the most perfect place in the world is somewhere between the half-press and full-press of my shutter.”

The selection of images Tsele put together for Container Love’s latest Spring Is My Love editorial series is a perfect example of his vision as an artist, and his approach toward telling the stories of people, real-life characters of his hometown and beyond.  “I love colors that evoke emotion in me. Raw, individual expression is something that really inspires me. Seeing that in someone is what makes me excited.” Tsele is part of Container Love’s latest special, Spring Is My Love, our ongoing series celebrating a new season with beautiful, new artists to discover!
