Olivia Ghaliongui: To End An Era Of Discontent

Artist Olivia Ghaliongui

“I am very sensitive to loud noises, I tend to always surround myself with calm energy and not too much ruckus. Silence can be so powerful, it definitely helps me stay creative” – Paris-based photographer Olivia Ghalioungui images come from a quiet place, a mind of someone who’s found calmness in a world that is running off the rails. Olivia grew up in the Greek countryside, in “a little place tucked away in the Greek Cyclades. All of my being comes from here. I started my photography journey with self portraiture, while growing up in the desert and by the sea. I believe that this is where my curiosity and vision sprouted.”

“In today’s world we are so connected to the cloud, I think it is very important to stay connected to the earth we walk on, the emotions we keep within ourselves, and our bodies.”

Although she’s being commissioned by a growing list of various fashion and luxury brands on a regular basis, Olivia’s personal works remain maybe the purest manifestations of her creativity. “My main ongoing personal series is called Polaroid Study, uses a unique approach to the polaroid and the post process of it. I find inspiration for my work through the human body and whimsical landscapes. To me, there is something beautiful about the intimacy between subject and observer, even the tiniest movement or change can impact the course of the photos.” She may work with various mediums and many different formats, but Olivia’s works are connected by a single, simple philosophy: “I love enjoying the present moment. In today’s world we are so connected to the cloud, I think it is very important to stay connected to the earth we walk on, the emotions we keep within ourselves, and our bodies. Whether it be through meditation, doing a sport, or simply taking a stroll, we can take a moment to enjoy the present and notice different senses coming alive.” Olivia is part of Container Love’s latest special, Spring Is My Love, our ongoing series celebrating a new season with beautiful, new artists to discover!
