Lana Prins: The Closer To You, The Closer To Me

“Spring is such an inspiring season. I love the feeling of new beginnings, a fresh start where everything is possible. I savor this feeling of change, of growth and fertility. Springtime to me is impregnated with sensuality. Physical attraction is in the air. My senses are sharpened, I can feel the air through my hair, raindrops on my skin” – growing up in a small town by the sea, Rotterdam photographer Lana Prins spent her childhood romanticizing the world around her. From a young age, she created dreamlike, alternate realities with women being the protagonists.

“As a child I felt like I had already lived many lives cause of the many storylines and emotions experienced through my imagination. As I grew older, I began translating these narratives into photographs. Photographing other people feels like experiencing their stories for a brief but intense moment.”

“When I was young I spent a lot of time daydreaming. Because of this, as a child I felt like I had already lived many lives cause of the many storylines and emotions experienced through my imagination. As I grew older, I began translating these narratives into photographs. Photographing other people feels like experiencing their stories for a brief but intense moment.” Lana uses her camera to get closer to others – both literally and figuratively. “The search for a connection with the person or subject I’m photographing fascinates me. Where possible, I often seek a form of intimacy, whether with people or nature. I believe we can form a deep, personal connection with the natural world, feeling a sense of closeness, calmness and understanding.” Lana is part of Container Love’s latest special, Spring Is My Love, our ongoing series celebrating a new season with beautiful, new artists to discover!
