Adriana Cuenca: Portrait of The Never-Ending Youth

Artist Adriana Cuenca

Words Tom Czibolya

“When I see a girl I know immediately if I want to photograph her or not. I think that apart from liking their look I always need to see something of me through them. To see myself reflected. I think that’s why I only photograph girls” – Barcelona photographer and filmmaker Adriana Cuenca’s pictures come with a staggering, almost paralyzing effect. Adolescence, youth, and a world in which there is seemingly no space for innocence are recurring topics of Adriana’s art. With a background in film, her approach to storytelling is defined by cinematic imagery capturing pure, intimate moments.

I love when people are sincere in their photography, when there is a lot of intimacy and vulnerability. That gives me the courage to try new things and lose fear.”

“I have learned that honesty is a gift that I give to the other person and if they want to maintain a relationship with me I hope they will also do the same. I love when people are sincere in their photography, when there is a lot of intimacy and vulnerability. That gives me the courage to try new things and lose fear.” Adriana is part of Container Love’s latest special, Spring Is My Love, our ongoing series celebrating a new season with beautiful, new artists to discover!
