A kiss doesn’t need any explanation – there is no doubt that dutch filmmaker and photographer Mees Peijnenburg’s magic lies in his cinematic compositions. With his latest photo series, KISS KISS, he’s once again proving that his distinct visual style is much more versatile than one might think.
Mees’ series displays intimate moments, yes, but it does that without making anyone feel uncomfortable or even worse, like an intruder. Kiss Kiss has an unmistakably happy atmosphere, but this happiness is far from being the teenage euphory that people so often tend to feel nostalgic for. These are kisses that have been earned, these are kisses that have been let go and these are kisses that will be missed forever.
